The ideal candidate knows electronic components and their suppliers very well. You will be the "go to" person that engineering will come to when they need a technical expert to help them find or work with the right custom ASIC provider. You will be able to explain why some components fail under certain conditions... or why a certain pin configuration on an IC might be OK and others may not be a substitute for an existing semi.
The component engineering position is key in achieving significant cost reductions on the bills of materials (BOM) for all metering end points. BOM errors, duplicate/redundant part numbers and/or manufacturer's part numbers and single sourced components all contribute to excessive and wasteful costs. A solid and attentive component engineer will be the lead position to drive material cost reduction programs at all of the Contract Electronic Manufacturers (CEM).
Job Responsibilities
* The component engineering position will be the focal point of BOM scrubbing and dual sourcing activities needed through the remainder of the current fiscal year.
* The expectations are: critical review of each and every BOM that current active with our CEMS;
* Correct and verify that BOMS are accurate and current;
* Compare listed price on components with negotiated price and reconcile.
* Review each new BOM submitted from Engineering for accuracy and availability.
* Component Engineers will create the component palette used by engineering as the only allowable choice for component selection for new designs.

* BS in Electrical/Electronics Engineering
